Obituary for Max Von Hilton Sr.

Max Hilton of Granite Falls, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 28, 2016, at Hospice, Hudson. He was born November 5, 1938, son of the late Ray and Clara Hilton.

He was a member of Grace Chapel United Methodist Church where he served on various committees and was very active in the work of the church.

He owned and ran his own business, Hilton Contractors, for over 25 years grading and paving in the Unifour Area. He was a loving husband and a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Von Hilton; one sister-in-law, Betty Hilton.

Mr. Hilton is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Merlene Teague Hilton of the home; one son, Kip Hilton and wife Alicia of Granite Falls; three grandsons, Kolt Hilton, Karson Hilton and Koby Hilton; one granddaughter, Alexis Buchanan and husband Adam of Hudson; one great-grandson Abel Max Buchanan of Hudson; one brother John Hilton and wife Linda of Granite Falls; two nieces, Elechia Wimbish and husband Don of Granite Falls and Anna Ruddy and husband Mike of Granite Falls,; mother-in-law, Joyce Teague of Hickory.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 1, 2016, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at Grace Chapel United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM with Rev. David Nolan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kip Hilton, Kolt Hilton, Karson Hilton, Koby Hilton, Adam Buchanan and Eric Johnson. Honorary pallbearer will be Abel Buchanan.

Memorials may be made to Grace Chapel United Methodist Church General Fund, 4336 Grace Chapel Rd., Granite Falls, NC 28630.
