Obituary for
Dwight Edward Miller
Dwight Edward Miller, age 73, of Hudson, passed away May 7, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 14, 1944, son of the late Robert Broadus Miller and Effie Baird Miller.
In addition to his parents, Dwight was preceded in death by his three brothers, Thad, R.B. and Johnny Miller; three sisters, Colene Cloer, Vonnie Hartley and Barbara Hamby Street.
Mr. Miller was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and was an avid outdoorsman. He was particularly passionate about deer hunting. Dwight was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He owned and operated Castle Bridge Marina from 1970-1976 and built many houses in the Caldwell County area for the past 30 years until his retirement in 2010. Dwight loved traveling after retirement with his family and friends and loved his church and served God on many mission trips. Another of his favorite activities was playing cards with friends known as “the Crazy Eights”.
Mr. Miller is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Janie Moore Miller of the home; two daughters, Angela Crump and husband Lynn of Granite Falls and Anita White and husband David of Cleveland, NC; five grandchildren, Justin Crump and wife Akeshia of Wilkesboro, Bethany Scott and husband Marc of Granite Falls, Brittany Dobbins and husband Jeff of Hudson, Thomas White of Cleveland, NC and Katelyn White of Cleveland, NC; great-grandchildren, Emma Scott of Granite Falls and Zoey Gregory of Wilkesboro. Mr. Miller also leaves behind six sisters, Vera Eller of Wilkesboro, Lois Price of Lenoir, Trilby Price of Lenoir, Ruby Church of Chesnee, SC, Lillian Young of Hudson and Hilda Ball of Roanoke, VA. A brother Paul Miller of Hudson, N.C.
Visitation for Mr. Miller will take place on Tues. May 9, 2017 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Hudson from 6:00-8:00 PM. The Service will be held on Wed. May 10, 2017 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Hudson at 2:00 PM in the Sanctuary officiated by Rev. Glenn Walker and Rev. John Green. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
